Our research is focused on the development of radionuclear methods of analysis and the subsequent application of these techniques to fundamental problems in a variety of areas. The common theme that links our research projects in areas as diverse as environmental science, neurological disorders, and archaeology is the use of the unique properties of the nucleus to investigate problems that frequently cannot be addressed with other chemical techniques. Current research projects include:

  • Investigating the source and potential health risk of fine airborne particulate matter.
  • Investigating the role of zinc in the pathogenesis of neuron degeneration in Alzheimers disease.
  • Developing a method to determine the age of senile plaques and neurofibrillary tangles in Alzheimers disease.
  • Characterization of the geochemistry of red ochre sources from North America for future provenance studies.
