About MU
| BS in Chemistry or Medicinal Chemistry |
The Chemistry Department offers two versions of the Bachelor of Science degree in Chemistry. The first, certified by the Committee on Professional Training of the American Chemical Society, is designed especially for those students who desire professional employment as a chemist or who wish to pursue graduate education in chemistry. The second track, available beginning Fall 1998, is a Medicinal Chemistry concentration, designed for students wishing to pursue postgraduate education in medicinal chemistry, biochemistry, medicine, dentistry, or other medically related professions.
Students who want to major in chemistry but do not have an advisor should see Prof. Adams, the Director of Undergraduate Studies (125 Chemistry Building), to have an advisor assigned.

| BS with Honours |
The degree Bachelor of Science with Honors in Chemistry is also offered. A student may earn this degree by:
| 1. |
satisfying the general requirements for the ACS certified BS degree, |
| 2. |
earning a cummulative GPA of no less than 3.33, and |
| 3. |
completing two semesters of senior honors research (Chem 298, 299). |
Students who wish to pursue such a program should see the department's Honors Director (Prof. Adams, 125 Chemistry Building) for approval of their program.

| AB in Chemistry |
The AB degree offered by the Department of Chemistry is designed for those students who desire a more general education than that provided by the BS degree but nonetheless are seeking a chemistry emphasis area. This degree also may be appropriate for students in pre-professional programs (pre-medicine, pre-dentistry, and pre-pharmacy).
Students who want to major in chemistry but do not have an advisor should see Prof. Adams, the Director of Undergraduate Studies (125 Chemistry Building), to have an advisor assigned.

| Minor in Chemistry |
| A Minor is offered by the Department of Chemistry for those students who desire a strong background in basic chemistry but who nonetheless are pursuing majors in other disciplines. Application forms for the Minor in Chemistry are now available for completion online as well as from the Department Office, 125 Chemistry Building. The courses which must be completed in order for a Minor to be awarded are as follows:

f a student's own area of concentration already requires so many chemistry courses that the above requirements would be satisfied automatically simply by completing the requirements for the major, then that student must include an additional elective course (not otherwise required by his/her major) in the Chemistry Minor.
IMPORTANT: Students should consult with a chemistry advisor to make sure that the above courses are scheduled in the appropriate order and will be available when they need to take them.
