Stevens’ Summer Research Fellowships
University of
Missouri-Columbia
Department of Chemistry
The Department of
Chemistry at the University of Missouri-Columbia sponsors a summer research
program for outstanding undergraduate students. This program is for non-MU students. Applications will be
accepted from those presently in their junior year of undergraduate study in
chemistry and who are considering graduate studies. Exceptionally
talented sophomores will also be considered.
Objectives
of the Program
The program is to provide an
opportunity for outstanding students (not enrolled at MU) to learn about research in
chemistry. Each fellow will be given a full-time research problem in the
Chemistry Department. At the end of the summer, all fellows will give a
presentation on their research at a departmental symposium.
Selection
of Fellows
Selections
will be based on the applicant’s academic record, as well as potential for and
interest in future contributions in chemical research. Special emphasis
is placed on letters of recommendation from faculty members.
Research Areas
Research
will be conducted under the supervision of a faculty member from the University
of Missouri-Columbia, Department of Chemistry. Every attempt will be made
to assign a faculty mentor whose interests closely match those of the
fellow. More detail on specific research specialties of the faculty can
be obtained from the department’s home page on the World Wide Web: http://www.chem.missouri.edu
